Date ? Any age as long as your parents approve,
Having sex is another issue unless you want the 18 year old to go to jail.

I suspect, based on the screen name you chose, that you are a 14 yr old girl and Alan is the 18 yr old.
As Chuck said, there are no laws against dating. But you are under the age of consent so any sexually activity could land him in jail. In addition, you NEED your parents permission. If they do not give it, then he could get in trouble for defying them.
Is this a one sided thing? It would be a rare 18 yr old who is romantically interested in a 14 yr old. The maturation level and field of interests are very different at those ages. And most 18 yr olds understand the term jail bait.
