Hi there!
OMG, please help me. I dated one guy for 7 and a half years, long story, I dumped him, was not really in love, etc. Then I met a year ago this amazing guy I'm crazy in love with. BUT, as I'm stupid, I logged into my ex's email account. Just no idea why -maybe because I've not been in touch for ages and wanted to see if he's OK. Anyway, the point is - as stupid as I am, I didn't know he will be able to see his last logins, and he 90% would have found I logged into his account. Now I am terrified he will tell my boyfriend. Please help me and advice how to approach this PLEASE! I know so stupid... PS - I am crazy in love with my current boyfriend and will die if I lose him due to this...

Sounds like you're not quite over your Ex.

... or maybe you're just overly nosy.

Yes, you're right that your Ex will probably figure out that you logged into his email account. You should not have done that.

Stop doing that sort of thing.

How many times have you logged into your Ex's email account?

If just this once, then I'd say do nothing. If your boyfriend finds about it, then confess and tell him the truth. If you've done it more than once, then tell your boyfriend NOW.

And quit doing that.

Put your time, love and effort into a relationship of love and truth with your boyfriend.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your response - I agree it was the most stupid thing I have done.
I am so scared my current boyfriend will get upset. I just want to figure out how to explain really. DO you think he could break up due to this?

And yes I will NEVER EVER do such thing :S Stupid drunk actions!

Don't hide your flaws, they will bite you later. Just be honest, and promise to do better. When the truth does come out, he would have heard it from you, and not be shocked by it coming from someone else.

The choice is simple, fear, and guilt, or honesty and truth. Which is the best to build your relationship on? If you don't trust him to do the right thing, or understand your drunken mistake, you don't have a great a relationship as you think in the first place.

Whatever happens, forgive yourself, and do better.

I don't know what kind of email your ex uses, but I was not aware that there was a way to tell when the account was last logged into. What makes you know this to be a fact? (I'm no pro, but have never heard of this)

Because you have been in a serious relationship with your new boyfriend for a year, and the fact that this has upset you so much, I would be inclined to tell him. If it was in fact, a one time stupid drunken thing, done on the spur of the moment, he might think it was a weird thing to do, but, there was no harm done- it was just a mistake in judgment on your part.

But, should you confess after the fact, he might automatically think that if you do these things behind his back, what else have you done. Checked his email? Gone through his cell phone? I think that he will also most likely consider you to be a sneaky person, and trust would come into play- if this all comes to light through him simply finding out, and not from you.

I don't know what motivated you to snoop in your ex boyfriends email account; he should have changed his password a year ago just to avoid the possibility of this happening.
