My toilet sewer line is broken below floor level and creased below floor level. I attempted to hammer the crease out and place an insert with flange attached but the pipe appears to have creased prior to concrete being poured and concrete in crease making impossible to hammer out. What can I do to fix short of tearing out floor?

Hi Cwrong,

Have you tried to pry that flap up and away from the ring I see there? If not, pry the "flap" up just a bit and look under it with a flashlight... if you see a whole ring under it just lift the flap and cut away... all looks pretty good.

If you pry the flap up and see an incomplete ring then let us know what you find.

What exactly broke... what happened here? I'm not clear on this one... even with the picture!

Back to you...

Mark

I'll tell you, from that picture it's really hard to advise as I have never seen lead connect to a pipe like that..

Anyway, I'd use a hammer and sharp chisel and I would cut that lead away to see what you can salvage. Even if salvaged, the twist and set flange you are trying to use may not fit properly into the elbow fitting, but you'll need to try to find out, of course... may work in the end.

Let us know what happens next, OK?
