I have about 2 years old central AC unit installed in my house .It is Goodman GSC130241 unit with 5 year compressor warranty and 1 year labor warranty. This summer the fan blow only warm air so I called the company which installed the AC.Technician find that is absolutely no freon in the system and recharged it.As he did he found that we have leak around the cap.He seal it,tighten it and everything was working again. We paid $275.Next day same thing.Warm air again. We called them again. This time compressor capacitor for $125.And all over again. It last one day.Now he saying since the unit was running without freon it make the compressor "weaker" and we need new compressor.Labor charge without compressor(under warranty) will be around $1000.
Is this people giving me running around? If I pay $1000 it will cost me allredy $1400 on top of $5000 which I paid when they install the unit 2 years ago.It seams to be a little bit pricey for cca 6 months use (3 months each summer). So again. Is this company playing games with me or this is normal charge for 2 years old unit?
Any comments will be appriciated please.
Thanks

How much more can it cost you to get a 2nd opinion, (from another company),I think you no longer have any trust in the original installer
