Can my soon - to - be separated husband move out and not pay bills, including mortgage, which is the current situation? Our mediator said that until our house is sold (going on market this week) - bill paying remains "status quo".
Please help - I have no money!
Thank you

Mediators have no power to dictate anything. You need to file for either divorce or a legal separation to get a support agreement in place.

ScottGem:
But our mediator (also an attorney) IS filing for legal separation..?

That doesn't matter, though I question a mediator acting as counsel. Only a court (or an arbitrator) has the power to compel actions.

Scott is correct in that a mediator can not make you do something. Also who hired this person since your claiming they are someone's council. If that is true then they can not by law be a mediator over a situation.
As council they can only represent one side and not both. Yes it is status quo for bills to be paid but once separated the bills become 1/2 yours. Also should you remain in the home you could be charged rent at fair market value.
