I am from Iran, both my parents come from Tehran. But I was wondering what my ethnic group is, what box would I tick. I live in england and am 16 and am trying to learn more about my history. I have fair skin, with black hair. I speak Farsi and so does all my family. I know it is my opinion is what ethnic group I am but I want to know what others think.

I suppose you would be classic as Arab or Persian.

Since you were born in Iran and speak Farsi, that makes you Persian. But under the UK Office of National Statistics, your ethnic group will fall under Other Asian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_ethnicity_in_the_United_Kingdom) based on the 2001 Census. In 2009, the specimen 2011 Census questions were published and included new "Arab" categories.

Your ethnic group is actually determined at birth by the ethnic group of your mother.
