I have a 1998 Honda Accord that won't start. When turning the ignition switch on there is no cranking at all. All the dashboard lights up as usual but noticed that the park indicator light and also the D4 light illuminates at the same time. Also noticed that stepping on the brake doesn't always allows the shift to be moved to a different gear.
Tried starting in neutral and get N and D4 lighting up at same time... Where is my problem?

The crank shaft sensor plug may havecame loose.
Check the starter motor wires are all tight and check the battery terminals.
Try a jump start it may just bethe battery.

Does anyone have an answer to my original question about my 98 accord.

Vehicle is in park... d4 is flashing when ignition is turned on... nothing...

Vehicle is sensing that it is in drive and park at same time... hence no start or any cranking at all...

Help!!

Check the ATX Gear Position Switch--it may need adjusting:

Where is that located please? Is that the unit that plugs together at the top of the trans. And the wire leads to the bottom of the trans. Where it attaches?

Since you know where the problem is located, fix it; otherwise, spend some money and take it to the dealer, ingrate.

Gear position is fine... reads park when in P, neutral when in N, reverse when in R, etc. but
D4 flashes when vehicle is in any gear location also.
