I have a 6 year old HE3 Kenmore Elite model 110.4586. It sits on a pedestal. I have never had a problem with it until recently. When the washer is just about to change status from 'wash' to 'rinse' or from 'rinse' to 'spin' it vibrates horribly for about a minute (maybe 2). The washer sits level. I don't believe it has to do with balance as it occurs every load now. The shaking is so bad, I can't keep anything on top of the washer, or neighboring dryer top, as it will vibrate off. Any thoughts? Thank you. Debbie

One of the suspension components could be broken on the washer. I believe your washer should have two spring on the top, and four shock absorbers on the bottom. If one of those components is broken, it will cause it to get off balance.

Also look to see that the water is draining from the washer at a quick rate. If the drain pump is clogged or broken and is draining slowly the water won't leave the washer at a fast enough rate and it will cause it to get off balance too.
