Hi , First time user. Have Symmons Temptrol Model A that leaks into the wall and basement when in use. The wall that has the tub spout and symmons valve and shower head. This symmons valve has not been used for years. I am planning to renovate main bath, thought I should make sure the other bath functions properly, it leaks as mentioned above. So I went to the basement to check out a third shower that has not been used in 10 years and the main handle is stuck, won`t rotate at all no water flow this is a Model B with out a tub spout, the little handle under the main handle moves back and forth as it should. Any help is welcome.

Hi Brad...

I suggest that you remove the face plate to the tub/shower valve(s) upstairs and see if the water is flowing out the diverter spindle assembly (where "the little handle" sticks inside) or see if water is dripping down onto the valve from the shower arm connection from above (will drip onto valve body from above)... be sure to switch between tub and shower using the diverter handle to check all connections. Start here and you should find something.

In terms of the valve downstairs, remove the handle, if possible, and spray and see if you can loosen the large nut surrounding the stem assmebly. If you can, shut the water off, remove the nut and see if you can remove the stem assembly... will definitely need to be replaced if it hasn't been used in 10 + years.

Let us know what you discover, OK?

Back to you...
