I was charged with sexual abuse 3rd degree, which is statutory rape in Iowa, I was 19 and my victim was 14, she lied about the age, I have court records that stated that, I know that doesn't do much, and she admitted to lying and that it was consensual. I got deffered judgement on the case, I received 5 years of supervised probation. My question was would there be any way for me to go down to unsupervised probation, because next year I'm going to be attending an University, and me having to check in with my PO and abiding all the rules is just too much, added on to the school work and what not. So I was just wondering if my lawyer can't cut my probation time would there by any way that I can receive unsupervised probation, and if so what would I need to do?

You can petition the Judge on this but since you where not locked up I'm not too sure the judge will give a hoot about you going to college, etc. You did commit a crime, now you will have to do the probation. Is the school in state or out of state? If it is out of state your PO must know about it way ahead of time for you to transfer your probation to that state. If it is in state, you'll just have to make the long trip each month or week, or however you report in person to the PO regardless of what kind of hardship you perceive this as. The PO needs to know where you live at all times, etc. so don't think not telling them about your move to college does not count. You must tell the truth on your monthly reporting sheet or you can and will be violated and possibly sit in jail for a spell. You need to realize that just because you got a deferred judgment on your case does not give you any special rights or privileges on probation.
