Been searching extensively imdb but without luck, so you are my last hope.

I saw this movie on VHS as a child around year 1990 (give or take some years) and here are pieces what I remember.

Its about young man who is trying to get away from some planet through some asteroid field but its kind of impossible so he "upgrade his ship" in way his thoughts can drive it instead of pressing buttons... but in the end this won't help him much.

Another part which I remember is that he is given (or offered) by some powerful being power to do anything he wants i.e. fly etc. as long as he remains on planet.

The conclusion of movie was I think that this being was in fact testing if humans are ready for such power at least I think.

Also kind of vaguely remember that the guy maybe lost his parrents (maybe) and there was some kind of accidous rain on some planet.
