My dog has lost all his weight he has been loose for 6 months or more its like grey water the vets can't find anything wrong had all the blood tests

This condition has been going on for six months? The vet can't find anything wrong? Try another vet then, but get something done to help your pet the best way you can.

Signs and Symptoms are about the only way a vet can diagnose an illness and it sounds like all the signs and symptoms are there and surely blood work helps a lot too. How old is your dog by the way, and what kind of dog, big or small ?

If you are asking us what's wrong, we can tell you that. We would love to be able to help an animal in distress but how can anyone diagnose a condition on the internet?

Find another vet who is more knowledgeable then the one you have.

Has he been wormed? Internal parasites can play tricks on the immune system

What's he eating? Has he gotten into something?

How old is the dog? Age plays a huge role in weight loss...

I agree with Tick.. find another vet. There is something wrong with your dog that your current vet isn't finding.

We can see grey stools from a dog that has been eating a lot of bones. Also, short of that, it is very suggestive of a lack of bile production, since it is the bile salts that make the stool brown, and also figure heavily in the digestion of fats. The watery stools are possibly the result of unsanitary water and low quality diet he was able to find. Coccidia, a protozoan parasite, comes to mind,in addition to several other atypical ones.

In a nutshell, I suspect it is the poor choice of food and water that he could find while gone.

Thanks for your email but he never has bones we have tried every type of food you can think of the vet gave him antibiotics plus steroids he improved for awhile but it has returned the only thing that you said is about water sometimes before we can stop him he has had a drink out off a local lake we have 4 and they all move not stagnant

I took your original post to mean that your dog had been 'lost', or not home, for 6 months. Watery diarrhea for that long is grossly understated by calling it simply 'loose'. Your dog has a severe intestinal malabsorbtion condition, possibly influenced by a liver or gall bladder malfunction. Severe inflammatory bowl disease is another possibility. Diagnosis would be by an intestinal biopsy, or more commonly by response to treatment. (The response to the antibiotics and steroids is a hint, and should spark interest in doing more by the vets.)

A liver cancer is also quite possible, especially if he is older. Cancer in animals is usually not diagnosed in the early stages because: 1) the animals are not able to complain in a manner most people can understand, and 2)most vets are not aggressive enough in their diagnostic approaches to this sort of challenge. This isn't entirely their fault, many clients are, understandably, hesitant to incur that financial burden, and then, possibly, have to decide whether to pursue an even more expensive treatment program.
