My uncle american citizen passed away more than 2 years ago. My brother and I (canadians)
Are the beneficiaries of his IRA fund and the company is now workiing on splitting the fund into two separate accounts, but to do that we need to get IRS individual tax identification number. Until now we filed 3 times on the advise of the investment company and our laywer and we were refused because the wrong information we were receiving from them.

We start this process in November, its 6 months now and after 2 trips to Burlington to submit the forms and getting 3 refusal letters, we are really getting frustrated. We would really appreciate if we can get the proper advise how to fill W7 and what other forms we need to fill
Thanks

Thanks for the website

I know this website and through this webside that I discovered that we can go to VT and submit the application instead of waisting time mailing it. Maybe I wasn't clear in my question, we need to know which reason to fill in the application"a-h" reasons. Last time our lawyer called IRS and they advised them that "h" other (see instruction) exception #1 (d) see letter. And this was wrong too

You need to use the Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA). They are trained to prepare the Form W-7 correctly and SIGN the Form W-7 to ensure it is accepted by the IRS.

Check the IRS website; they should have a listing of CAAs in the U.S. town near you.

Thanks for your info

I see from other post that you are CAA and you offered to help CND citizen to fill the W7 form, please advise if that possible and what is your fees

I am able to help you as a CAA, but the forum rules prevent me from quoting a fee on the forum.

Please email me at [email protected] and I will quote a fee via email.
