Can you be charged for drug use on an ETG?
Can ETG test detect drugs as well? (specifically the state of CO)

An "EtG" test detects only ethyl glucuronide, a metabolite of ethanol. It is used to detect alcohol consumption after the alcohol has been eliminated. No other purpose or capability.

So no it can not be used to detect drugs other than alcohol use.

And if there were other tests that did detect drugs, they do not charge you with the actual crime of drug use, but if on probation can use it to violate you and revolk probation.

You input gives piece of mind, thank you very much for the prompt response.
However in the case of probation or pre-trial supervision, if I were told I was doing an ETG, (vs a UA) that day, are they legally allowed to use my sample for a UA as well?
I ask because I am getting mixed advice about Colorado drug testing procedures, some have told me that an ETG in CO, would be a UA + the ETG.
Even the guy at the testing place said "it' all the same"- which got me wondering what he meant by that.
Anything else you could add to my query?

Yes. EtG is a specific test for abstinence as noted above. In this case it would use your urine sample. Once provided however the urine sample can be tested for any number of substances and compounds. In relation to court based testing it is common practice to run a comprehensive drug screen which could include EtG as the method for detecting alcohol use.

So if it is an EtG test, singularly, then that is all it will or can detect. If it is a composite test, that simply includes EtG, then it may include many other assays.

Standard 5-panel drug screens do not include EtG. Therefore the mere presence of EtG test indicates an expanded (multiple) panel assay capable of detecting 10-20 different drugs.

I think your question turns on semantics, perhaps misapplied terminology, although I can't imagine why expanded panel tests would be referred to as EtG?

ADDED: I overlooked the legally allowed. I imagine they are or leastwise act on the assumption that can use the provided sample as they please. As to the base legality I'm not certain.

DR Bill Please get back to me. Tomorrow at 2 pm I have either an EtG or atg lab drug test for probation. I have been smoking synthetic marijuana and I was wondering if q carbo 32 detox will help me pass this test? Let me know asap please.

This is wrong. My probation officer told me that one of her clients keeps coming up positive for cocaine off this test. I live in Colorado.
