We are going into a jury trial and my lawyer told me that I must pay the jury fees daily, is this true or does he pay them and bill me?

Civil or criminal? Yes you pay but if its civil you split with the other party.

I have to admit, the idea of the parties paying the jury is a new one on me. I would guess your attorney will get a bill at the end of the trial, and he will ask then you to pay it. Why don't you ask him?

This is new to me too. But I can see, as governments feel the pinch, that they require a party requesting a jury trial to foot the bill. Not sure if that's legal though since the US Constitution guarantees a trial by peers.

Sounds like a civil trial, but you pay it, if the attorney had and asked for a large enough retainer it may get paid from it.
But the attorney has no obligation to pay it out of his pocket, and hope you pay him back. Again he would pay it, if you have already given him money to cover it

So, divaofdrama, you need to come back and give us more info about where you are and what type of trial to confirm that you have to pay these fees.

Only the OP knows but I have found that a handful of States require payment in addition to the "usual" Small Claims fees IF a jury trial is requested.

I am in California (Los Angeles) and am having a heck of a time with my present attorney. It really is a long story (I was in a loan modification 2009 and then the mortgage company when bankrupt and the attorney at the time lost his license to practice and the houe was foreclosed upon unbeknownst to me) Then the former attorney handed me over to this new attorney -- to which I have paid him $8,000 and he has not gone to court for me -- he has had plantiff's argument overtuned due to a technicality but refused to have a jury trial the morning of my date with the judge). Now he is trying to recuse himself because I won't pay him an additonial $15,000 for every month I did not have to pay rent. I thought you could not be forclosued upon if your were in loan modification? Maybe this is all too much for this site but I have no more funds to give a new attoney and I go back to court on Thursday to set the trial date... all the while my attorney is trying to get himself recused.

Why are you going to trial? Why would you want a jury trial?
