In Kansas if the lease does NOT state that it renews or goes month to month after it expires does it go month to month by default according to ks rental laws?

I didn't check Kansas specifically, but this is pretty universal in the states. Unless your lease states otherwise, then when the lease expires, it goes to a periodic rental.

Your lease however, can have an automatic renewal clause which states that unless the lease was terminated, then it renews for another year. Or it could simply state that unless renewed the lease ends.

Perhaps it would be a good idea, just to be absolutely clear on such an important issue, to speak directly to your landlord, at least you would then know for sure.
