Is it normal to have heavy bleeding 6 weeks after childbirth? Also, what is considered heavy bleeding.

Bleeding 6wks after childbirth

Bleeding for up to six weeks after having a baby is normal, but by now it should be tapering off. How heavy are you having? How often would you need to change your towel?

It could be your first post partum period. With a couple of my kids I bled right through up to six weeks with it tapering off and then at about 6 weeks it got heavier again. I guessed this was my period as it stopped again completely after a week.
