For the past few days there has been a very thin, young cat hanging around my house and today I went out and fed it. I also noticed that she had very enlarged nipples and was very affectionate, so I'm thinking that maybe she's pregnant? I'd really appreciate if anyone had advice about what to do? I'm incredibly tempted to take her in but I already have two 10 year old cats and I really don't know how they'd respond.

Is she friendly? Will she let you handle her and pick her up? Someone may have dumped her (unspayed) and she then proceeded to get pregnant.

Last Christmas, we brought into the house two outdoors stray cats (had them vet checked, etc.). It took a few months for our indoor older cats to accept them, but everyone gets along now and has his or her own sleeping places mapped out.

If you can catch her and get her to the vet, they might be able to spay her and abort the kittens. You could put her back in your yard and feed her every day and be responsible for her. That's called TNR, Trap-Neuter-Return, and might solve your problem with your other cats.

You have the typical cat lover dilemma... don't want to turn a stray away, but already have not one, but two cats!

Well, you will never chase a cat away by throwing food at it, but, you also don't have to let her into the house. If she is very thin, but has large nipples, it is possible that she has already had her kittens and has been separated from them. How doesn't matter at this time. A pregnant cat usually has smallish nipples... (nursing causes the nipples to enlarge) and is quite noticeably not 'thin'.

The PC thing to do, for me, is to recommend you call the humane society, or pound, since she is a stray. Maybe there is someone else in your community that makes it a practice to take in strays like this, in which case... that is a better place than the pound.

But, what you do is your choice. As I said, it would seem she is no longer pregnant,
