This is the second thermostat I'm installing, which is sort of the heart of the problem. I installed the first one (a Rite Temp) about 18 months ago with a lot less trouble. Of course, I removed an older thermostat, so I was able to label the wires properly, etc.
But suddenly the display on the Rite Temp started going south and losing digits / lines. I was able to exchange it for a Honeywell RTH6350D at Home Depot, and now my problems are getting worse.
When I pulled the faceplate for the new thermostat, the old labels had gone gummy, and some of them fell off. Now I'm at a total loss as to which wires went with what.
I have the following wires going to the Bryant:
White
Blue
Orange
Brown (T)
Yellow (Y)
Red
Black (E)
Green (G)
My old thermostat had the following terminals:
W1
C
G
E
R
X
Y
T
O
The Honeywell has the following hookups:
L
E
Aux
G
O/B
Y
R
Rc
I understand that Y goes to the compressor, G to the blower fan, R is the hot 24V AC line, and W is usually heat.
When I hook it up with Y to Y, G to G, R to R and W to "Aux" I get the fan to turn on, but I only get heat from the registers.
It's hot, and I have shoulder surgery tomorrow. I'm dreading the prospect of suffering for the next several weeks in sweltering heat after trying to fix this at the last second. Help :-(
