I have been trying to see whether I should switch my default search from Google to Bing. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with doing this? I find that Google is giving me less useful results of late.

Do you use the search options in Google? It Narrows down what you're looking for quite well. For example: if you're looking for blogs instead of advertising sites, or want the most recent links to your query, or the links only updated in the past month, year, or whatever...
Also, there is a search filter option to moderate the results. Advanced Search Options will show all the possibilities, and the search options should appear in the left hand column of your browser. I really like Firefox with the add-ons ad-blocker & Ghostery.
Make sure your browser settings are set to high security. Firefox is great at this (always a growing threat.)
But to answer your question - I've never used bing because I've been happy with Google since it came out. It even led me to this site :)

I agree that Google has some great options. However, I find that the results have changed in quality. I know that Google made their rankings update in late Feb (and I guess another in April) but I personally find them to be qualitatively worse. I know Google is trying to do the right thing but I wonder if they are doing too much...

I have heard rumors about Google folding to authoritative pressures. Firefox was the first major organization to deny those requests (more like demands). Let me know how Bing goes if you try it out. Cheers!

Yeah - please report back about your experience using Bing over Google. I am a big Google search engine fan but honestly what they have done with the results on many forum sites is quite a difficult pill to swallow.

I had been using Google until about a month ago. I'm using Bing now and am very happy with it.

Why not give yourself multiple one-click options (for search engines) at any given time, by downloading AdvanedSearchBar? You can get it free, and, if you use its own box to enter the search terms, you can click on any of a number of search engine icons (and other sites like eBay) right on the search bar! I agree, Google results have changed radically, but I think it is mostly driven by their adword program, which is a source of revenue for them.

There is always Yahoo as a back up.
In truth the most important search engine is the one geared to what your looking for so if your always searching for specific items then choose one that relates to it in the best way.
