Hello all,my rider is a 17hp b&s craftsman mo,917.270711.I am out of ideas!I have installed:a, working ,stater,new solenoied,checked all 3 safety switches,a good egnition switch & harness but when I turn the key I get NOTHING AT ALL!The engine will turn by me jumping the solenoied to the starter but I get no fier.I can disconec the grond from the coil and get fier but the engine won't start even with starter fluied.Any advice would be appreciated.

You didn't mention the in line fuse , have you checked it ,
I know this is a stupid question , but did you have the switch on when you was jumping the solenoid ?

Thank you for your replay DG and yes did check the inline fuse,and turnd the key to jump it.Howver,I was just tanking how I don't have the egnition monted on the dash panle,maybe it need to grond that way.?
I don't know,how much dose the backfier seloniod on the carb have to do with my problem?I tried it with it connected and disconected and nothing.
I'm lookng forword to getting this soved,thank you, SLYME65

DG,hello and thank you for your reply,yes I did check the inline fuse,turnd key tu jump it.but it don't turn on.

Check you ground going to body and engine.
When you replaced the solenoid.was it the same as the old one ?
Check the power coming to the fuse make sure it's there.
You might try unpluging the engine wiring harness also prime carb and see if it will fire.
