I had guardianship of 4 of my grandchildren from 2007 until 2010, due to my son and daughter in law going in and out of jail, domestic violence, drinking, drugs, and other problems. In 2010, my son went back to jail and my daughter in law got out and decided she was ready to raise the kids. We went to court, had our homes and lives investigated and a judge returned the children to her against all advice from CASA and DFACS. They wanted her to receive AA, Drug Rehab, and prove stability. They kids are 15, 8, 6, and 4. It has been 4 months since she got them back, and the oldest child is in trouble for drugs, and the kids tell me they are being mistreated by mom's new boyfriend and that mom is drinking a lot again and being mean to them. They cry every time the see me and beg to come back home to my house, where they were safe. No local authority will listen to me or them and I don't know what to do. The kids are in danger with their unstable mom and I want to get them back with me until she gets help for her issues, before something happens to one or more of these innocent children. Any advice? I live in Georgia, where I am told I have no rights as a grandparent. I raised them for a lot of their lives though.
