For the past 4-5 years, I have worked for a trucking company, who said I am considered "self employed", yet they never have given me a 1099 form, when I am paid I only got a Check (with no check stub), and now I am in trouble with the IRS. I estimated taxes, yet this trucking company, has turned into the IRS,, a whole lot more than I made, and now IRS is saying I underestimated those years.l They have done this to 4 or 5 more employees, who have gotten into the same trouble with IRS, What can be done, I think this company is hiding something and unreporting Their (the trucking companies income, or something, to help reduce their taxes someway, and instead it is punishing the employees, we have no records, since all they give you was a check with no stub, and once you go to the bank and cash it, it is hard to prove,, What can I do? I am having to pay back to the IRS a lot of money now, did work out a payment plan, but can this Trucking company be investigated by the IRS? Or the Dept of Labor? Thanks any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would contact the other employees, and jointly appeal to the IRS and the state Department of Labor to investigate the trucking company. It may get you fired, but it also may relieve you a huge tax bill.

Unless you own your own rig, I would not consider you as self-employed. I suspect the IRS and Tennesee Department of Labor would agree.
