Please someone help me I have a top loading maytag washer and I need to know how high the drain pipe needs to be.I was always told it shows above the top of your washer.which is above 30 inches I am afraid of backup if it is any lower.

The drain pipe opening should be at least 34" above the floor. I usually set them at 36". If you have a washer on an elevated stand, you could have filling problems if the washer is too high. The water filling the washer can overflow into the drain and water keeps trying to fill the washer. Whatever height your washer is, measured at the top, have at least 4" free space for draining.

ma0641 is correct. Remember this drain needs to be trapped to. 1 1/2" to 2" pipe is pretty much stardard. If this is a new install do not use 1 1/2"
