I need some advice on a 4 3 wire with ground wire; where does the ground wire go on a 208/230 setup? I am using a 50 amp double pole breaker.

Ground wires connect to the equipment ground bar in the panel at one end, and the green screw of a receptacle at the other end.

If the panel contains the Main Breaker for the service, the neutral bar will accept ground wires.

Tracy. Not too sure what you are asking. Are you asking how to wire a plug on a welder, a receptacle for a welder or what? And do you have a 3 or 4 wire plug? Most welders have a 3 prong plug, two hots and a ground.

I am asking the proper way to wire my welder to my garage panel. I see the instructions say the welder comes with a ( nema type 6-50p) plug. I needed a ( nema type 6-50r ) receptacle, which I hooked up , using 10 AWG, WITH A 30 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER. I DO NOT THINK I HOOKED IT UP CORRECTLY, I HEAR THE WELDER'S FAN, also the "crackling" sound from the welder, when I pull the trigger, like I remember it should sound. I do not see the feeder roll turning at all and feel I did something wrong. The .035 wire freely moves around inside the liner and the wire is NOT arc'd or welded to the tip at all. The trouble shooting guide says 1st, check that the proper voltage is going to the welder..

I see the manual says the unit should be used with a 40 amp fuse with 12/3 wire, my welder has a 3 prong plug 2 leads and 1 ground wire. I feel I should have or did not wire the welder correctly using the wires given, I also was told I can use the 12/3 and a 20 amp breaker and all should be fine, please offer any advice, I appreciate the input, thanks in advance, Mike... Just looking to repair my chain guard for my 1976 sportster... :)

30-155 amps the weld-pak 155 lincoln electric, I opened the welder to install the small hose for the inert gas for MIG WELDING AND SAW THE CONNECTIONS LOOKING GOOD, LIKE THE REST OF THE UNIT!!

I am not sure why I feel it is the wiring, but being the feed roller for the wire feed does not move, I am wondering even more now... It worked at a friends home before I hooked it up at my house, time between, about 1 year...

Friend nearby? Take it there and try it. I'll bet it won't work there either. If the fan comes on, it's wired correctly. And the spec show your 30 amp circuit as being adequate. I"d double check that wiring with the unit off. Wiggle some of the wires on the feeder. Is it rusty, is the wire stuck? Try taking the wire out and trying it. Does that feeder have a clutch assembly?
