Hello,

Suspecting that I had a bad water heater, I replaced for a brand new electric GE 50 gallon tank.

It helped with the problem a little bit, but I have a feeling that my pipes are not very well insulated as the hot water in the secondary bathroom (furthest away from the water heater) takes a really long time to heat up. (30-45 seconds to get just luke warm).

Any ideas on how to get the hot water faster?

Thanks.

I wish you had come here first before replacing a heateron a suspicion, likely not bad to begin with. Insulating the hot pipes will help but marginally. Insulation only holds in the heater from the last usage so after sitting over night you would have the same 30-45 second wait. You could try this Advanced Conservation Technologies: D'MAND Hot Water Systems (http://www.gothotwater.com/)
