My boyfriend and I have been together for 7 months now and he finally proposed to me. Of course I said yes because lets be real, out of ALL they guys I have dated, he treats me like a woman. Anyway, I want to know if this is moving too fast. I love him and all, but I don't want to make a mistake that will ruin my life. I am currently 17 years old and have gone through so much in my life that its unbelievable! I am also a virgin and he understands that. He doesn't want to build a relationship off sex either. He isn't a virgin, but he had sex once and it was with a girl that he did not love and she did all the work. So do you think that this is moving to fast? Or is he just about perfect for me?

Engaged at 17? What's next?
Do you really think you have lived enough and dated enough and loved enough that you are ready to settle down?

I have date 46 guys in my life time and non of hem has lasted more than 2 months and if it does we are a on and off thing. Most of them abused me and most of them cheated on me with my ex-girlfriends. I am ready to settle down. I am sick and I'm not promised a tomorrow. For someone to love me as he does, I personally think that when you know that he/she is the one.

Forty-six guys by the age of 17? Good grief! What does "dated" mean? Will you graduate from high school? Do you plan on take vocational training or going to college?

Dated meaning I went out with them on dates and he was considered a boyfriend that everyone knew we were dating. Yes I do plan on going to college to take up Business Management and Culinary Arts. He doesn't plan on going to a campus college, He wants to do his college online, but he said that just maybe if I can give him 5 good reasons he should go to a campus college, then he would go.

That's kind of scary. It doesn't so much sound like you are ready to settle down as much as to learn how to have a relationship.
How long have you known this guy, and how long have you dated him?

I've known him all my life, but we started dating on November 3, 2010 because I didn't know how he felt about me and I he didn't know how I felt about him.

So that's only six months. You live together? How long will the engagement be?
My suggestion is that you finish college first before marriage. Once a baby comes along, college plans will be out the window.

I don't plan to have kids. I don't to end up leaving them behind.

Not want kids? You are only 17 -- 'way too young to make that decision.
"Leaving them behind"??

If you read what I said thoroughly above I wrote "I am sick and I'm not promised a tomorrow. For someone to love me as he does, I personally think that when you know that he/she is the one."

I have no idea what that means. What are you sick with that might be terminal?

I have a COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) it's not contagious but it is basically in short terms emphysema. No, I don't smoke but as they say in the commercials, secondhand smoking kills to.

Are you receiving treatment for that?

Yea, but since its so far along in it, It can only be delayed, not stopped or cured. My great grandmother had it, my grandmother had it my mother has it and now I have it as well. A family full of smokers and I was the one to break the tradition but I somehow still get the same sickness as they do.

So how long do you expect to live?
Does your boyfriend smoke? You're still living at home in a smoke fog?

The doctors cannot say yet and I'd rather not know when.
No he does not smoke. He isn't for it actually.
Yes I still am living in a smoke fog. I don't have a place yet and I just quite my job, because the boss was a little... off. If you know what I mean. SO I am currently looking for a new job but now you have to be 18+ to get a job out here in N.Y

You don't have to be over 18 to get a job in NY - I'm actually in NY.
I'm very familiar with COPD - I'm sure you are, too. What medication do you take? It's very unusual at your age because it takes years and years for the symptoms to appear and/or worsen. It is also not genetic.
I'm curious about who diagnosed it and what the prescribed treatment is.
