:( My cat is almost 13. Always healthy and very well maintained. He is a fixed male and is not over weight. He was diagnosed with diabetes in September 2006. For the last 2 years we have had a terrible time with him vomitting 1-2 times/ week, yet 3-6 times a day on the days he does vomit! I have noticed he will also puke while he is in the litter box while having diarreha. The diabetes is under control and does not have any renal failure and is over all healthy according to his blood profile I have done twice a years. He is on Science diet I/D soft and hard which is low carb for the diabetes. He puked long before the discovery of the diabetes by the way! Currently he is on metrinitozole (1/2 tab once a day). He did well on that at first and is now vomitting again and has been for several weeks. My vet said she wanted to treat him for irritable bowel disease... is there snyone else that can tell me if they had the same experience? My hubby is getting ready to kick me out along with the vomitting cat! Help!

Inflammatory bowel disease involves certain cells invading the wall of the intestine. Your cats symptoms lead right to this. For your cat to be diagnosed there must be inflammatory cells present. It can be treated through it's diet and medication.

Feed your kitty a protein and carbohydrate source they haven't eaten before. Ask your vet about this. This is all they should eat, no treats! The food change should last for at least 2-3 months.
You have to continue with medication doses, you can't stop the treatment too early. It is a long-term maintenance, so keep up with it!

Good luck with you cat :-)
