I am seriously considering switching one or all of my cats to a RAW diet due to one have recurring episodes of crystals, even though I am feeding what is supposed to be an all natural diet, Innova Evo canned.
After much research it makes sense that feedign them what they would normally hunt for themselves (or soemthing close to it) makes sense. Most cats 30 years ago were much healthier becaue they were allowed to hunt and the commercial foods we use for convenience today were not available, those that were, wwere of superior grade. If you really knew what all those "healthy protein-rich" touted foods really have in them you would vomit! The cooking process alone renders the food nutritionally useless, if there was anything nutritios to start with! THose pet food companies have contracts with all the slaughterhouses and for very cheap they get all the "by products", the useless and often diseased left over innards and feet and heads are what they use! THen they add so many chemicals after cooking the crap out of it no wonder so many animals have FLUTD, UTI, IBS and cancer! Felines digestive systems are not equipped to handle all those chemicals and nutritionally deficit kibbles!
Has anyone out there used the raw diet and how is it going for you? It is initially an investment with the 3 supplements that are added to 75% meat and 25% veggies diet. But I think it worth a shot...
