Our son has been locked up for 3 years total at the age of 16 he was charged as an adult,he has never even made it to court what does ths mean

I think it's good. It means the prosecution doesn't have its case together... Your sons lawyer should have asked for the charges to be dismissed by now. He DOES have a lawyer, doesn't he?

Three questions spring to mind:

What state (or country, if you aren't in the U.S.) are you in?
What crime is he charged with?
What reason does the D.A. give for postponing the trial?
