I was taking birth control pills then went to switch my birth control to the implanon that is inserted in your arm about a week ago, yesterday I learned I was pregneat, is there a chance of birth defects?

The Implanon website says this: "IMPORTANT: Pregnancy must be excluded before inserting IMPLANON® (etonogestrel implant)." Implanon: Precautions (http://www.implanon-usa.com/HCP/aboutImplanon/precautions/index.asp?C=2677640655906712963)

This site says that there is no known connection between Implanon and birth defects but that it should be removed when the pregnancy is diagnosed.

To put your mind at ease I would call my Doctor and ask.
