If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to reveert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed , or if you aren't sure what cuased the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
SAfe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Know Good Configuration ( your most recent settings that worked)
Start Windows Normally

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
Seconds until Windows Starts: 30 "

I also tried rebooting it and it still goes to the same page

Usually this happens right after you install something and restart. Then during the restart a change in system files being loaded causes the crash, hence the last known good configuration would revert to a backup set of files. Are you saying you click on "last known good configuration" and the PC still errors? If you just installed something new (software or hardware), remove it and see what happens. For hardware(video card sound card etc.), just take it back out. For software or drivers for say a video card, you have to go into safe mode from that same screen and remove them from there. Safe Mode loads with the minimum files and drivers so it can often be accessed when regular Windows cannot.

Thank you for your advised, but I only keep getting the safe mode choices and I can't go into the safe mode to go to my window. I don't have a window xp recovery cd because I left it at my europe trip. Is there a free window xp recovery kit, I don't watch to purchase the cd just for it. I do live in america.

Because its an HP Laptop and is considered to be OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) you can't just use any recover disk you have to use theirs. Usually they do not hammer you for a recover disk since they want your repeat business. Some I have seen as low as $10 and have even seen just the cost of shipping, especially if the original disks were faulty in someway. If you search right, and use your manufacturer and model number in your search terms, you might run across someone sharing their disk with someone else. Other than that your stuck buying one from HP.

But first Google "no safemode fix" and see what you can do there. If you can fix it so you can get into safe mode, you'll probably be able to get your system back.
