View Full Version : Can Ciprodex cause numbness to tongue and loss of tastebuds

During a sever about with inner ear infection,always the right ear have tube in ear, I was put on Ciprodex 4 drops in the am and 4 drops in the pm. On the second day I realized a numbness on the right side of my tongue also my tastebuds are shot. Meats and sauces mostly have a metallic taste now and milks, gravies, potatoes etc have a soapy taste. I took the medication for 8 days and stopped I have dropped 50lbs due to taste of foods. Could this be a side affect of the medication. I am 71 years and otherwise in great health. Just had blood work and ultra scans to verify.

Ciprodex. While unusual, about 0.5 % of patients do experience taste perversion, according to FDA listed side effects. For a list of side effects see:
