In that Dell's Service Manual (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1501/en/sm_en/hddrive.htm#wp1123687) for this system states "Dell does not guarantee compatibility or provide support for hard drives from sources other than Dell" the answer is no. However, if I was needing capacity and had that drive on hand, I would be inclined to use it.
