Do you know how to graph the equation:

y = x^2

If so, when you have:

y = (x - a)^2

The whole of the graph of y = x^2 is translated a units to the right.

Now, there should be something more included in your question, since g(x) = (x-2)^2 is not a function, unless the limits of x are defined.
