Why... how much are you willing to pay. Songwriters get paid for their work.

Not all songwriters are paid for their work. Their work has to be accepted by the artist/producer/whatever before they see a dime. Until then it's free labor. That's like you asking people, "Guys, can you read this snippet of something I wrote and tell me what you think?" To which we can, just as easily, respond with, "Why? Editors get paid for their work. Critics get paid to review your published work. How much will YOU pay us?" Jadeweston wasn't asking anyone to write the song themselves and give it to them, they were asking for help. Asking for help can hit many different area's, especially when it comes to music.

Jadeweston, to answer your question... I can't write music to save my life, but I am pretty handy when it comes to figuring out lyrics. Perhaps we can work something out together.

Any songwriter worth anything gets paid for their work. Why does any rational person work for free so someone else can profit from their labors.

YOU don't work for free... Singers don't work for free... only fools work for free.

People have to eat, people have bills to pay. Why don't artists work for free... musicians... Actors. They are no more deserving of being paid than the song writer, or the playwright, or the script writer.

Time has value... work should be compensated in accordance to the value it carries.

Now if you can't give your work away because its no good... then its time to take up another career.
