My ex Husband just got a notice in the mail for a debt I incurred 20 years ago. I don't even remember this debt. It was not on my credit report the last time I checked. I believe it was written off. Am I still responsible for this debt.

Where is he now and are you officially divorced

He Is living in our marital house & we have been divorced for 18 years

If the debt is yours, then you are still responsible for it. A debt never expires. A write off is just a tax/accounting maneuver and has no bearing on your responsibility to pay the debt.

However, if this debt is that old, the Statute of Limitations has probably past which means they cannot use legal means to collect this debt. All they can do is dun you.
