What inductance is necessary for 157 Ohms of inductive reactance at 1000HZ

The impedance of an inductor is Z=j\omega L. Therefore, the reactance is X=\omega L = 2 \pi f L.

Just set X=157 and f=1000, and solve for L. You should get something in the neighborhood of 25 mH.
