View Full Version : How do I get a job if I have just been fired and "charged" with a crime?

I made a huge mistake. My wife and I were hard up for cash. My job, for 11 years, is at a big warehouse. People always leave there credit cards at my register. The other day, the pressure of life built up and I made a huge mistake! I used someone's credit card to buy my family $100 worth of groceries. I got caught, fired, and now I'm charged with fraud and theft. I am so stupid. Now, I don't know how to get a job. I am trying to renew my pharmacy tech license, but I'm not sure what to put in the check box that asks if I have ever been convicted of a crime? I have been "charged" but not gone to court yet, nor been convicted yet. Would it show up on my job applications and Pharmacy tech application? Please, no mean replies. I know what I did was horrible, and I feel terrible, embarrassed, and like I ruined my life.
Just looking for advice.
Thanks

Probably not, but all background checks are not the same.

Pending prosecutions usually do show up on background checks

If there is a judgment of conviction through a finding of guilt or guilty plea, it will show up

If the charge was dismissed or acquitted, it will not show up

First you are going to have trouble in the Pharm with a criminal record. You need to consider other areas of employment.
Right now you are not convicted so find something fast,
