View Full Version : Bathroom sink gets very low water pressure

For no apparent reason, the water pressure in my upstairs bathroom sink has suddenly decreased. It is a pedestal sink, with hot & cold handles, both of which have about 25% of the normal pressure. No other water sources in the house seem to be affected; even within the same bathroom... the shower has normal pressure, the toilet as well. I've checked the valves & they are open.

Could there be a leak & how do I check for one other than the obvious dry wall wetness?

Many thanks, Victoria

If it is only the sink, take off the aerator at the spout and make sure the little holes are open. You can use a pin to clean them or take out the aerator completely.

Or if u have shut water of recently u might also check the supply lines for pedestal for blockage by turning valve off and disconnect and look inside.

Thanks. I removed the screen & that didn't improve flow. Haven't turned off water recently. But I will try to see if something is blocking at the valves.

Ber careful! When angle stops get blocked it is usually on the water side. Make sure you turn off the water to the house before taking the valve or piping off.

Lets close the angle valves under the sink, disconnect the supply lines at the fuacet, place the end of the supply line in pan, open the anglle valves and see if you have water flow if you do the angle valves are OK problem is inside the valve may need to remove the cartridges, if no flow the problem is with the angle valves, come back and we will tell you how to fix it, Thanks.
