View Full Version : If I had a judgement from cc and I gave away a piece of land can they get it back.

I gave a piece of property 2yrs ago to my mother who has lived on it for 9 yrs but we never recorded it in town. We recently recorded it.I have a judgement against me from a cc co. can they reverse that gift.

They can't reverse that gift if it is in her name, and the land now belongs to her; i.e. deed, title.

You know, it all depends on how much you owe. They usually want instant gratification.

They actually got a default judgement. I answered both them and the courts but neither said they received my answer.I did not send it certifide.I was told I didn't have to.They even had 2 different docket no. for the same case.I called the court house they checked the other file (wrong docket no. ) and didn't find the answer I sent. Called the lawyer & they didn't have it either.Secretary would not let me speak with lawyer.Answering post deroggatories questions now. $20,ooo judgement fees etc late charges etc.

Did you record the deed before or after they got their judgement?

Then they can go after the land. Legally you owned the land when the judgement came down. Any thing you do after that to get rid of or disperse assets doesn't count
