I have a Kenmore he3t elite dryer bought new 6 yrs ago and it stopped heating. It runs great just will not heat. I did remove the heating element and the base it is on is cracked but the coil looks OK. Do you think it is bad?

Check your incoming voltage to the dryer first. If you don't have 240V it can run and not heat. The most likely cause is the thermal on the heater. On the back part of the heater is a thermal fuse that looks like a thermostat and has two wires on it. Check it with an ohmeter. Should read straight through. If you don't have one you can take the two wires off and jump them together and insulate and get them out of the way. Then run the dryer. If you have heat... there's your problem. Replace the cut-off kit. That will be the part just described along with the actual hi-limit thermostat on the heater. They come as a kit. Once you have it running and heating, cut the power again and clean the lint out of the dryer and take care of your venting problem. Somewhere the air flow is being restricted and that caused the problem. Probably your vent from the dryer to the wall.
