I just received a civil action from Frederick J Hanna & Assoc that was served by a sheriff's deputy, on a credit card that was brought by them from Washington Mutual, date opened was in 2009. What should I do?

Go to the court date. There should be one on there. If there is not, you need to contact them and find out when they sent out the original letter letting you know that they had purchased the debt, and when they contacted you to get the judgement from the court. Demand that they provide you with this information. They cannot get a judgement from a court unless they can prove that they made every attempt to notify you of a court date. If you fail to go to the court date, they will automatically win the case by default.

We need to know exactly what you received. If it's a real summons or notice of court action then it will list the name of the court and a docket number. It is unlikely, however, to list a court date. Generally it will require that you respond to the summons by a certain date. If you respond with an Intent to Defend, then a court date for a hearing will be set.

The next question is is this your credit card and do you owe on it? Once we know that we can tell you how to proceed further.
