Installed an new utilitech shallow well jet pump and I am getting water to the house but the pressure tank isn't filling with any water. Pressure gauge on the water line reads 20# but won't go any higher. The pump runs until it gets hot then safety design shuts it down, when it cools down it kicks back on. Only 10' from water level in well. Any answers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Don't worry about the tank. That problem will resolve itself in a few weeks.
Check your pipe joints for leaks. Just pumping from 10' down, you should get good pressure so long as there are no leaks. When you turn it off, does it hold prime OK?

It seems to be holding its prime, I haven't had to reprime it yet, but the in line pressure gauge is only showing 20# of pressure I have a 20/40 pressure switch. It hasn't reached 40# yet. The pump runs until it gets too hot then it shuts itself off then when it cools it kicks back on, it just keeps repeating this cycle. Should I just leave it on to see if it will build up to 40#? I don't want to burn the pump up and void the warranty.

When you say you are 10' from water in well, do you mean that water is only 10' down in the well?
Don't let it run. However, if it's getting plenty of water, it should be able to run a fairly long period without overheating. You might want to pull off the impeller cage and make sure you don't have trash in the impellers.

From the top of the well casing to the top of the water level is only 10'. I don't have any idea why it will not build more than 20#

Figured it out it is capable of 115v or 230v and the switch under the cover was set to 230v. Yeah!!

So you had it wired for 110? If so, then good catch! Feels good to solve a problem, doesn't it?
