I'm 18 years old and have been with my boyfriend for the past few months we recently had sex for the first time, we were both virgins before. We've noticed that it's difficult for him to stay hard once he puts the condom on :/ his erection just goes away.. he has no trouble getting hard and staying hard with everything else that we do.. could the condom be too small or would it be something to do with the latex? :/ I'm on the pill but it makes me a bit nervous thinking about having sex with no condom, how effective is the pill? Please help :)

Stopping to put on a condom can be a mood killer at best. Many men find it difficult to maintain an erection at this point , and after it is on.

And no form of birth control is 100% so if you are not ready to be parents , wait for the sex until you are.

Birth control pills and using a condom in tandem is a good idea also.

Also you are both young and still learning , there will be problems encountered as you learn about each other.

Have you tried putting it on him with your mouth?
This is a trick that when I first encountered I found to work very well in not breaking the mood

Start to communicate now about everything you do. Sex included.

You can prevent a multitude of problems if your communication skills are up to par.

Don't worry too much about his not maintaining an erection until you are more comfortable with each other and sex in general.

My best advice is to wait until you are ready to be parents , that is the best time to have sex.

Thank you for your help :) I like the idea of the pill & condom which is what I've been planning to use both as I don't like the risk of pregnancy, I'm definitely not ready to be a parent. I'll try the way you suggested of putting it on for him lol.. I think he gets a bit nervous which probably wouldn't help. As far as the communication goes it's great :) I've never felt closer to anyone. Thank you a lot :)
