I'm a shy person... I don't talk much... Is running out of things to say bad for friendships? And is asking a friend "What should we talk about" a bad thing. I heard being able to converse with each other is key for a good friendship and it's scaring me because I can't talk sometimes.

I my opinion if you run out of things to say when hanging out with a friend and it doesn't feel awkward and you don't feel pressured to think of something to say, means it's a pretty good, comfortable friendship.

I could sit with my boyfriend or best friend in total silence for hours and not feel awkward and vice versa. And asking "what should we talk about?" just makes it all the more awkward. Is this friendship with a girl of your interest?

No just a friend but when I silent I get these worries that I'm no fun? She said its OK to be silent but I can't stop worrying

Well then that's just your own issues or anxiety, its not a bad thing, you just need to train yourself! Next time there is a silence, stick it out, don't search your mind for something to say just wait it out and when the silence is broken you WILL see that everything is OK and your friend is still hanging out with you.

Hey can you imagine a world were we all had to keep talking and talking and there was no silence! Aaah I'd go insane! Next time you guys meet up, go on a long walk somewhere nice, have a sit down somehwhere and silently take in the scenery around you, and let you mind wonder, relax and close your eyes and breath in the air and next thing you know, you will feel alone there. But your not alone, your friend is there too and you've been so relaxed you almost forgot :p
