evaluate x/y if x = 48 and y = 3/4?

replace the variables with the numbers.

48/(3/4)

remember that 'division' is 'invert and multiply' equivalent.

48 / (3/4)
48 (4/3)
48 (4) /(3)
192/3
64.

\frac{x}{y} = \frac{(4.8)}{\(\frac34\)}

Just put it one besides the other.

(4.8) \div \(\frac34\)

Now, reverse:

4.8 \times \frac43

Then you multiply like you use to do with normal fractions. You should get 6.4.

since they wrote the question with a 48 one time, and a 4.8 the other time, there is no way of know which one they are asking, but if they do the steps I recommended they can solve any problem of this type. The steps are to review, replace the variables with the numbers in the equation. Then solve.

Yes, I just put it in a more visual way :)
