My 18 y/o son woke up with a swollen index finger in September. They did an x-ray of his finger which came back normal. They started him on Diclofenac which hadn't controlled the swelling. He saw a new MD who did a bunch of lab tests, including RA factor, all of which came back normal. There was slight elevation of the SED Rate. He was referred to a Rhuematologist who confirmed the absence of Rheumatoid arthritis. He said there might be a possibility of Psoriatic Arthritis since my other son has a minor case of Psoriasis. He gave him an Rx for a different NSAID, Etodalac. Interestingly enough, his finger isn't causing him too much pain. He feels like it is just tight with limited mobility. He hasn't noticed anything different with the new medication. Any ideas what we should do next? Any ideas of what else this might be? He is a student athlete and needs the use of his fingers. I appreciate any ideas, even holistic ideas. I just want him well.
