I need a credit card but I've never had one before and don't know how to go about getting one,also I don't understand what half of the things mean like variables etc.

You mean you don't get a dozen applications in the mail every week?

If you have ZERO credit... you would likely NOT get a real rcredit card until you do.

Try getting a store Card where you shop most often... use it to get something small every month and pay that bill in full the next month... In very little time you will start to establish a credit history and the offers will start to roll in.

THEN you can pick the ones with the lowest Annual APR... and not just the suck-you-in low introductory rates that alwys go up in a few months.

I still don't really understand

Simple credit card applications don't ask anything but
Name, address, work history and social securitynumber
( in the US)

If you have very bad or no credit at all, you will not be able to get the better cards, so you will have to start with places like Sears or Penny, or even gas station credit cards to build up some credit hsitory over time.

Also there are cards where you have to deposit small amounts of money 100 to 300 dollars, and they give you credit using your deposit against the credit.

First step is to set down at even your local back with a bank representitive you may know and talk to them about a card at that bank.
