I'm 17 and I'm late for my period. Me and my boyfriend don't use protection but he does pull out. I've been feeling sleepy and off some food but I'm not sure if its too early to take a test? And also isn't it too early for pregnancy symptons?

If you are late for a period, it is not too early to test. Be sure to follow the directions on the test exactly. Some women will feel symptoms before they even miss a period... most often feeling more tired and having to use the toilet more often.

For future reference if you are not pregnant: The withdrawal method is not one of the most effective methods, especially for teens, as it takes a good deal of control. It is also often not used correctly... too many couples will engage in foreplay with penetration, remove the penis for ejaculation, and then reinsert the penis. Having another round of intercourse, after a previous ejaculation, also increases the failure rate.

If you continue to engage in sex, it would be wise to discuss alternative methods of birth control... using two methods together would be even better. Keep in mind, no form of birth control is 100% effective, so pregnancy will always be possible.

Whether you are pregnant, it would be wise to be taking a multivitamin with folic acid in it. This can help protect against some birth defects that would occur very early in a pregnancy (often before you might even know you are pregnant)... planned or unplanned.
